At an all-hands meeting shared on X, Elon Musk said SpaceX's AI business will out-earn its rocket and Starlink operations as soon as next month.

Musk says SpaceX's AI revenue will surpass rockets and Starlink by September

Elon Musk just drew a line under where SpaceX is really headed. In a 30-minute all-hands recording posted on X, the CEO said AI has become "an extremely important part of SpaceX's future" — and that its AI revenue is about to overtake everything else the company does.

"Probably our AI revenue — not probably, definitely — our AI revenue will exceed all other SpaceX revenue probably in September, like next month," Musk said, adding it will "significantly exceed" all other revenue in the fourth quarter.

The timeline is plausible. In its August 4 second-quarter report, SpaceX posted $7.81 billion in total revenue: $2.56 billion from AI, $4.29 billion from connectivity (Starlink), and $962 million from space products. AI is already the company's second-largest segment — and the one growing fastest.

The company has been pivoting hard toward AI since its blockbuster June IPO, which made Musk the world's first trillionaire. It rebranded as SpaceXAI after acquiring xAI, bought the AI coding startup Cursor for $60 billion, and now plans to build data centers in orbit to train and run models, using Nvidia's Vera Rubin architecture exclusively.

Musk also previewed the next training frontier: "We're going to be training Grok on the sum total of all SpaceX information," he said. "So in a way, it'll be trained on you."
