Claude Opus 5: Anthropic's New SOTA Model at Half the Price

Anthropic launches Claude Opus 5, matching frontier performance at half the cost with new benchmarks in coding and knowledge work.

Claude Opus 5: Anthropic's New SOTA Model at Half the Price

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 today, a model that approaches the frontier intelligence of Claude Fable 5 at half the price. It is now the default model on Claude Max and the strongest model available on Claude Pro.

On Frontier-Bench v0.1, Opus 5 surpasses all other models and more than doubles its predecessor Opus 4.8's performance at a lower cost per task. On CursorBench 3.2 at max effort, it scores within 0.5% of Fable 5's peak while costing half as much. The model also claims a 3x lead over the next-best model on ARC-AGI 3 and roughly 1.5x the pass rate on Zapier AutomationBench at equivalent cost.

On OSWorld 2.0, a computer-use benchmark, Opus 5 outperforms every other model at any given cost level. It trails only Mythos 5 on cybersecurity evaluations. The model is priced identically to Opus 4.8 despite the substantial gains.
