Anthropic Upgrades Claude Voice Mode, Adds App Integration

Claude's voice mode now uses the full model stack and connects to Gmail, Calendar, Slack, and more — pulling ahead of OpenAI's voice-only approach.

Anthropic Upgrades Claude Voice Mode, Adds App Integration

Anthropic has released a significant upgrade to Claude's voice mode, shifting it from the lightweight Haiku model to the full model stack. The update allows voice mode to tap into whichever model the user last used in text chat, enabling longer and more complex spoken conversations.

More notably, Claude's voice mode can now interact with connected applications — Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Canva, and Notion — during voice sessions. Users can ask Claude to schedule meetings, draft emails, or create documents entirely by voice. This marks a clear differentiation from OpenAI's voice mode, which still cannot use external tools during conversations.

The feature is available in beta to all users across platforms. Free-tier users are limited to the Haiku model with a single connected app, while paid subscribers get access to the full suite. Multilingual support is also in beta, covering over a dozen languages including French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.

Anthropic did not update the underlying voice model itself, so conversational polish — such as interruption handling — remains unchanged.
