A24 Is Bringing the SCP Foundation to Theaters in 2027
The internet's most elaborate shared horror universe is getting a real theatrical release. A24 has taken worldwide rights to an SCP Foundation movie, teaming with Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios on a 2027 release.
The film is officially the next entry in the V/H/S found-footage anthology series — V/H/S: SCP — after Image Nation and Spooky Pictures acquired that franchise earlier this year. A24 will co-produce with Roy Lee and Steven Schneider for Spooky Pictures, alongside Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/94, V/H/S/99) and Michael Schreiber.
SCP began as a single creepypasta posted online in 2008 and grew into a sprawling collaborative mythology about a secret organization containing anomalous objects, entities and phenomena — written and expanded by thousands of contributors. It has already spawned games, short films and web series. The pitch from the producers is blunt: "Internet lore is quickly rising as a compelling source of new stories for the horror genre, bringing with it built-in, highly devoted audiences."
A24 knows the terrain. Backrooms, which also grew out of a creepypasta, has grossed more than $394 million worldwide.

Netflix Is Making an Animated Diablo Series — and Diablo V Arrives in 2029
Blizzard is taking Sanctuary to streaming. Blizzard Entertainment chief Johanna Faries revealed at BlizzCon in Anaheim that Netflix is adapting Diablo as an animated series.
"A new animated series set in the world of 'Diablo' is in development with Netflix," the company said, adding that "this is only the beginning, with even more taking shape across our universes."
Diablo debuted in 1996, with sequels in 2000, 2012 and 2023. Blizzard also used the fan event to announce that Diablo V will arrive in spring 2029 — meaning the series and the game are now on parallel tracks.
Point Break Is Becoming an Eight-Part TV Series at AMC
AMC and France's Canal+ have greenlit a Point Break television series — roughly eight months after Deadline first reported the project was in development.
The show comes from Alcon Television Group, the TV arm of the company behind the 2015 Point Break remake. It's set in the present day, more than thirty years after the film, and centers on a new heist crew with ties to the Ex-Presidents, while the FBI leans on a mysterious ex-pro surfer with a checkered past to infiltrate them.
Dave Kalstein (Treadstone, NCIS: Los Angeles) and Christopher C. Rogers (Halt and Catch Fire, Sugar) will serve as co-showrunners on the eight-part series, which goes into production early next year. AMC and AMC+ will air it in the U.S., Canal+ in France and across Europe, Africa and Asia, with Studiocanal handling global distribution.
The original 1991 film, directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by W. Peter Iliff, starred Keanu Reeves as rookie FBI agent Johnny Utah and Patrick Swayze as the surf-guru bank robber Bodhi.

A Docu-Horror Is Shooting at the Heart of the Pendle Witch Trials
Maddie Evans of House of the Dragon is set to lead Pendle 1612, a British docu-horror inspired by the Pendle witch trials, alongside newcomer Ella Moss and Gemma Laurie (Shetland).
Written and directed by Lancashire-born twin filmmakers Liam and Kyle Bashford, the film follows three young women whose documentary into the disappearance of one character's older sister leads them into the landscape around Pendle Hill — the setting synonymous with Britain's 1612 witch trials, which ended with ten people hanged for witchcraft.
Principal photography begins at the end of September on location in the heart of Pendle, produced by Eleven Eleven Pictures. Liam Bashford says the goal isn't a period recreation: "We didn't want to recreate 1612. We wanted to ask what might still be there today." The Bashford twins started making films as teenagers in Blackburn before spending eight years working from Pinewood Studios.

The Crystal Lake Trailer Is Here — All Eight Episodes Drop on October 15
Peacock has released the full trailer for Crystal Lake, its Friday the 13th prequel series from A24 and creator Brad Caleb Kane. Linda Cardellini stars as Pam Voorhees, a single mother who has been unable to shake her grief after her young son Jason drowned in the town lake almost a year earlier.
The hook is a mystery rather than a body count: when two strangers arrive at Pam's door digging into her past, the townspeople of Crystal Lake start asking just who Pam Voorhees really is. The trailer also traces the lake's curse back to Jason's drowning — via, naturally, a campfire story.
All eight episodes premiere at once on October 15, each running about an hour. Alongside Cardellini, the series regulars include William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
