Sadie Sink has been unmasked as Jean Grey. The Stranger Things star's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day had been one of Marvel's most guarded secrets, but now that the film has hit theaters, the mystery is over: Sink is playing the iconic telekinetic mutant, setting the stage for the MCU's long-awaited X-Men reboot.
Sink's face isn't revealed until roughly halfway through the film, where her identity as the antagonist slowly comes into focus. Her version of Jean Grey isn't yet the hero fans know — she's a fugitive with the power to possess bystanders within 33 feet, using her abilities to "jump" between minds as she attempts to break into Damage Control headquarters. She possesses Scorpion (Michael Mando), then escalates to the Hulk himself — removing Bruce Banner's inhibitor device and turning the green giant loose on New York. Spider-Man teams up with the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) to stop her.
A flashback reveals Jean had an older sister, Sara, who was abducted by Damage Control — the film's true villainous organization, conducting tests on mutants for their psychic capabilities. In the final moments, a wounded Spider-Man pushes Jean out of the path of Punisher's sniper bullet, taking the hit himself. Jean is last seen on a bus leaving the city, with autumn foliage suggesting a trip upstate to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters.
Sink becomes the third actress to take on the role in live-action, following Famke Janssen in the original Fox trilogy and Sophie Turner in the prequel series. No X-Men movie has been officially announced yet, but the breadcrumbs are unmistakable.
Wizards of the Coast brought thunder to Gen Con 2026. The biggest D&D news in years landed this week: the game is embracing Magic: The Gathering's Universes Beyond model, starting with a full World of Warcraft crossover book — and the notorious post-apocalyptic setting Dark Sun is finally returning as a "mature" product line.
The 256-page Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft book arrives November 17, pulling from 22 years of MMO history including the 2026 Midnight expansion. Eleven new species are on the table — Pandaren, Draenei, new elven lineages — alongside six subclasses letting players become Death Knights, Demon Hunters, and Shadow Priests. Seven dungeons, 30 bosses, 50+ new monsters, and a full professions subsystem round out the package. Rather than using in-game art, Wizards commissioned new illustrations closer to the Player's Handbook style.
Wizards is also licensing D&D's iconic settings to external publishers. "Players shouldn't have to wait decades before we go back to Eberron, Ravenloft, or Dark Sun," executive producer Greg Bilsland said. And Dark Sun is the centerpiece: a Mad Max-meets-Fist of the North Star wasteland where evil won and heroes survive rather than save, arriving in 2027 as three books under the Season of Survival banner. The teaser trailer reportedly opens with what Polygon describes as "a Mortal Kombat fatality."
A separate "D&D Icons" line brings legendary creators back for Dragonlance, Greyhawk, and Drizzt adventures. The Season of Rebellion in summer 2027 has a conspicuously empty slot — whispers point to a potential Star Wars crossover, with Star Wars-themed tabletop RPGs already announced alongside these reveals.

A24's Elden Ring movie is in the can. Alex Garland's live-action adaptation of FromSoftware's dark fantasy epic has wrapped filming after six months of production, according to a social media post from prop maker Sean Schofield, who's worked on The Witcher and The Rings of Power.
"Dream job to end all dream jobs," Schofield wrote. "Six solid months of blood, sweat and tears making the coolest stuff ever, working alongside the best of the best." Set photos over the past months have revealed game-accurate costumes for Queen Marika, the Dung Eater, and Sorcerer Rogier, with locations standing in for Stormveil Castle and Liurnia of the Lakes.
The film now enters post-production ahead of its March 3, 2028 release date — plenty of time for the VFX work that a world of grafted demigods and scarlet rot demands. Garland, who's completed Elden Ring seven times, wrote a 160-page script on spec — with 40 pages of "additional imagery" — to convince FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki to let him adapt it. A24 and Bandai Namco announced the project in May 2025.

Marvel has reversed course on Wonder Man. After initially renewing the series for Season 2 in March, Marvel walked back that decision this week, canceling the Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest comedy starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Abdul-Mateen, nominated for an Emmy for his performance as the reluctantly super-powered actor Simon Williams, posted a farewell on Instagram: "Word just dropped that Wonder Man won't be coming back for Season 2. That's life, right? Everything will shake out." He thanked fans for the "genuine love" and noted he watched YouTube reaction videos alongside the audience.
Season 1 launched all eight episodes on January 27, pulling 618 million minutes viewed in its opening week per Nielsen — good for No. 8 among streaming originals that week, though skewing older with 41% of viewing in the 35–49 range. No reason was given for the reversal.
