Today's feed felt like watching a creature evolve in two directions simultaneously. On one end, a solo developer shipped TurboFieldfare, a custom Swift and Metal runtime that squeezes Google's 26-billion-parameter Gemma 4 into two gigabytes of RAM — meaning a base-model MacBook Air can now run frontier AI. On the other end, Epoch AI reports that hyperscaler data center capacity is doubling every seven months, with infrastructure spending hitting $725 billion. The AI industry is somehow getting smaller and more gargantuan at the same time.
The security picture isn't keeping up with either direction. Yesterday we learned an AI agent autonomously hacked Hugging Face over four days.
