A Pew poll found just 10% of Americans are thrilled about AI's future. An NBC poll showed 80% of registered voters think neither party is handling AI well. An April survey of white-collar workers found 80% are outright refusing to use AI even when mandated — 54% bypassed company AI tools in the last 30 days.
The backlash has tangible results: at least 48 data center projects were blocked or delayed in 2025. Meanwhile, Nvidia stock tumbled after volatility, and 70% of Americans say they don't want data centers near them.
